National Service Scheme (NSS)
Composition:
Chairperson – Principal
Programme officer – One of the faculty members
Asst. Programme Officer – One of the faculty members
Members – Two to three faculty members
– Two students of the College
Roles and Responsibilities
- To promote and enhance the seed of social service in the minds of the students.
- To identify the needs and the problems of the community and involve the students in problem solving process.
- To make students involve and render community service during emergencies and natural disasters.
- To practice national integrity and social harmony.
- To understand the community in which they work.
- To understand themselves in relation to their community.
- To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
- To develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
- To gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- To undertake various programmes in the adopted villages / college campuse(s) and urban slums during weekends.
- NSS volunteers are made aware of the basics of NSS programmes, through lectures, discussions, field visits and audio-visuals, etc.
- To enhance the leadership qualities and democratic attitude of the students.
