Department of Chemistry organized an inter-departmental paper presentation competition

The Department of Chemistry organized an inter-departmental paper presentation competition focused on the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education on 30/01/2025 in the Multimedia Hall. The event commenced with a prayer song rendered by the department choir, Ms. Angelin Abisha, from I B.Sc Chemistry, delivered a warm welcome address, Rev. Dr. Michael Aro SDB, Principal, graced the occasion with an insightful inaugural address, emphasizing the significance of STEAM education in today's world. The esteemed judge for the competition was Dr. N. S. Femila Nirmal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam. Her expertise in the field provided valuable feedback and guidance to the presenters. 17 participants from various departments participated in the competition. The presentations covered a wide range of topics related to STEAM education, including its role in fostering innovation, promoting critical thinking, and addressing real-world challenges and several presenters highlighted the importance of integrating arts into STEM education, emphasizing the role of creativity and design thinking. This competition provides a platform for students to explore and discuss the crucial role of STEAM education, fostered intellectual discourse and encouraged students to think critically about the future of education. Following the presentations, Ms. J. Mary Vasantham delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Management, all the participants, organizers, judge, and attendees for their contributions to the success of the event. The program was skillfully compered by Abhishek Suthir and Asim Thimna from III B. Sc Chemistry.
