The Inauguration of the National Service Scheme of St Alphonsa College of Arts and Science for the academic year 2023-2024 was held on 18/7/2023 by 11 am in the presence of the Principal Rev Dr Michael Aro SDB, the Campus Minister Rev Fr Ajin Jose and the Vice Principal Dr R Sivanesan. Ms Shammi, Assistant Professor of Commerce from Arunachala College for Women was the Chief guest of the day. The Programme began with a prayer song sung by the NSS Volunteers. Dr R Paulmoni, the program officer welcomed the gathering. The Principal in his Presidential Address asked the students to inculcate the good quality of concern for others. Being an NSS Volunteer the students need to give way to others and consider the importance of other people’s need. He also stated that students will get lot of opportunities to serve others through NSS. The Vice Principal Dr R Sivanesan and the Campus Minister Rev Fr Ajin Jose motivated the volunteers and felicitated the gathering. The Chief Guest Ms Shammi addressed on the various aspects of NSS. Further she explained on the different days to be celebrated by the NSS Volunteers. Her points about the role of an NSS Volunteer was highly motivating and inspiring. The session was interesting , as the students could grasp some basic knowledge about NSS through different activities. Finally Ms Nithisha from I B.Com proposed vote of thanks and the meeting came to an end by the National Anthem at 12.30 pm.
